New York State Inspector General Joseph Fisch announced the arrest Thursday of Tracy Buelow, a clerk at a state Office of Children and Family Services juvenile facility, on two felony counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Buelow, 32, of Amsterdam, is accused of selling at least 12 Lortab pills to a co-worker at the Tryon Girls Secure Center in Johnstown, Fulton County. Lortab is a mixture of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. The alleged $60 sale took place in the facility parking lot last summer. The co-worker, a longtime maintenance worker, was not charged. He told the Inspector General that he’d become addicted to painkillers following a back injury and had undergone treatment for his addiction.
A Grade 6 clerk who has worked at the detention center for two years, Buelow allegedly drove to the maintenance facility to make the sale even though she was out of work on a Workers’ Compensation claim. In addition to the criminal charges, she faces employee discipline.
Buelow was arrested in Mayfield by New York State Police and the Inspector General’s office. She was arraigned before Judge Joseph Gilston in Broadalbin Town Court and released on $5,000 bond pending a February 1st appearance in Perth Town Court.
